Research Scientist I, Pharmaceutical Development

IDEXX Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced scientist to join our pharmaceutical development team. The scientist will primarily be responsible for developing new drug delivery technologies for controlled release formulations of pharmaceutics, and will also support our biomarker discovery group in making bioconjugates. Other responsibilities will include the design, optimization and selection of compounds with appropriate pharmacokinetic characteristics. The technical responsibilities of the position include:? Development of new technologies and intellectual property in the area of new drug entities, drug delivery and controlled release formulations of pharmaceutics? Bioconjugate chemistry with focus on protein small molecule / protein peptide / protein - polymer conjugates? Preformulation studiesCandidates must also be able to:? Plan and execute laboratory research independently? Exercise judgment in developing and determining methods, techniques and data interpretation? Be responsible for achieving project goals in a timely manner and with a high degree of quality? Work well both within an R&D team and across the boundaries in multi-disciplinary projectsRequirements: The ideal candidate has a PhD in pharmaceutical science or medicinal or organic chemistry, with either a postdoc or two or more years of relevant industrial experience. Broad knowledge and skills in organic synthesis are required; experience and exposure to pharmacology is a plus. Candidates must also possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and be able to maintain an organized laboratory notebook and other development records.
