The Knowledge Management team is seeking a motivated Associate Scientist to join our R&D team located in Cambridge, MA. If you have a strong foundation in cell biology, hands-on research experience, an aptitude for new technology, and an ability to get things done, we want to hear from you.Under the direction of a staff scientist, this individual will join a new experimental biology team charged with adding value to existing research and development programs. The group will work closely with computational biologists to help generate data and test models that predict biological outcomes. Interfacing with all three of our research sites, the group will seek out interesting biological questions and drive internal research and external collaborations to advance our research efforts. Work will be broad in scope and change regularly.Key responsibilities include:- Design and conduct in vitro assays- Analyze and present findings to the research team- Work closely with senior scientists to define relevant biological problems- Maintain an efficient lab environment, including routine cell culture workQualifications- B.S. or M.S. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related discipline- Sound understanding of tissue culture, cell biology, and general laboratory techniques- Effective and creative problem-solving skills- Ability to execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and critical thinking skills Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc., is an EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
