Research Scientist I

Eisai Inc. is a U.S. pharmaceutical subsidiary of Tokyo-based Eisai Co., Ltd., a research-based human health care company that discovers, develops, and markets products in more than 30 countries. Established in 1995, we began marketing our first product in the United States in 1997 and have rapidly grown to become an integrated pharmaceutical business. We have the following opportunity at our state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production and formulation research and development facility in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

This position leads, performs and/or supervises hypothesis driven research activities through design and execution of experiments or similar activities with appropriate awareness of drug development process/disciplines/regulations.

Responsibilities include:
* Contributing new ideas/concepts, and effectively communicating results and conclusions to internal and external professionals.
* Functioning effectively while leading within a multidisciplinary team environment, sharing information on a timely basis, monitoring and interpreting data generated by others, and effectively coordinating work activities with stakeholders.
* Communicating project status, results and future plans to a diverse audience.
* Demonstrating leadership and assuming accountability for independently solving complex problems as appropriate.
* Directing other scientists on work efforts; clearly establishing goals/objectives, timelines, and expected standards.

Requirements include:
* Ph.D. with or without post-doctoral training or equivalent theoretical/technical depth (i.e. BS or MS with appropriate equivalent experience).
* Proficiency gained through wide exposure/experience in technical field; broad grasp and application of scientific theory and principles; working knowledge of other related disciplines and functions relevant to pharmaceutical development; in-depth knowledge of one specialty area; and skills required to successfully supervise and lead people.

Experience in analysis or development of parenteral or topical formulations a plus.
