Job description:
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated bench scientist with a fundamental understanding of experimental design. Responsibilities will include both in vitro and in vivo assay development pertaining to specific therapeutic gene targets, summarization of experimental results, and written/oral reportage of findings. An ability to interact in a dynamic start-up R&D team environment is essential. Knowledge of key therapeutic areas such as obesity, diabetes and dyslipidemia is a plus.
Background and skill requirements:
• The candidate should have a B.S. or M.S. degree with at least 2-3 years of industry experience.
• Cell culture technique
• Light and fluorescent microscopy
• PCR, quantitative RT-PCR and protocol optimization
• DNA, RNA and protein isolation from both cultured cells and animal tissues
• DNA and protein gel electrophoresis
• Protein immunoblotting
• siRNA gene knockdown
• Familiarity with electronic DNA/RNA/protein analysis tools, both web-based and software-based (i.e. Lasergene, Vector NTI, etc.)
• Understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills, particularly as they pertain to presentation of experimental findings
• Familiarity with animal models, animal handling and dosing experience is a plus

Join an exciting new company engaged in the discovery and development of novel RNAi-based therapeutics. Dicerna Pharmaceuticals is looking for a scientist to join its oncology drug discovery effort. This position requires strong expertise in molecular and cellular methodologies, and will initially involve extensive molecular and cellular assay development and performance, aimed at advancing oncology drug candidates.
Requirements: BS/MS with significant research experience; candidates with prior experience in drug discovery in an industrial setting will be strongly preferred. Expertise in molecular and cellular methodologies is essential; experience with histological methods, in vivo assaying and disease modeling (in small animals) is preferred. Familiarity with signal transduction pathways and molecular oncology is an asset. General familiarity with computers is essential (Excel; data analysis). Also essential: excellent interaction skills, ability to contribute effectively to group projects in a team environment, ability to perform and interpret experiments reliably, and ability to advance projects aggressively towards defined goals.

Job Title: Research Associate, In Vivo Pharmacology (Ref: 08200803)
Job description:
Join an exciting new company engaged in the discovery and development of novel RNAi-based therapeutics. We are seeking a motivated BS/MS scientist to perform in vivo pharmacology research to support the selection and development of therapeutic agents for several ongoing drug discovery programs in oncology, metabolic disease and virology.
Background and skill requirements:
• In vivo pharmacology experience including handling, dosing, and conducting drug efficacy studies with mice is required.
• Hands-on experience administering test agents by oral, intravenous, intraperitoneal routes, and perform tumor measurements is essential.
• Must have prior experience with minor animal surgery.
• The candidate should have experience in advanced analysis techniques including PK and PK/PD modeling.
• The selected individual will be involved with protocol preparation and raw data transfer.
• He/She will be responsible for the communication of this material verbally, graphically, in written format, or by other appropriate means to department management and other departments.
• This position requires the ability to maintain cell lines in tissue culture, prepare reagents and dosing solutions.
Must have a BS or MS in biology or other life science field with a minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant biotech/pharmaceutical laboratory experience. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills, experience with spreadsheet, graphics and word processing applications, the ability to multitask and strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
