Registered Nurse Epidemologist

Mercy Medical Center, Stark County's only faith based hospital, has an immediate position open for a Nurse Epidemologist.

  JOB POSITION: Nurse Epidemiologist

  DEPARTMENT: Nursing Administration

 

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time 80hrs/pay

 

WEEKENDS: As needed

 

SCHEDULED HOURS: Days

 

  QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum five years clinical experience in Nursing (will consider related experience outside of Nursing). BSN Required, Masters Degree in Nursing or Public Health preferred. Current Ohio RN license or ability to be licensed in OH.  Certification in Infection Control, or must obtain within 6 months of accepting position.  Evidence of continued education in Infection Control, national certification in infection control preferred.  A strong background in Bacteriology and Epidemiology. Leadership, managerial and diplomatic qualities.  Accountability and recognition of the scope of responsibilities associated with implementation of the Infection Control Program in the hospital.  Must be available to accommodate the needs of the team; must be available during emergency situations.

 

  NATURE OF WORK:   Conduct on-going surveillance using Center of Disease Control (CDC) infection criteria, and Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) documentation, and investigation of nosocomial infections through daily review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, post-discharge surveillance, and autopsy findings.
