***THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION IS LOCATED IN WILSON, NORTH CAROLINA***Position Summary:A QC Chemist III is a skilled and experienced laboratory chemist who contributes by performing analytical release testing, and stability testing for both pharmaceutical ingredients as well as drug products. A QC Chemist III demonstrates mastery of at least one of the major areas of testing performed in the laboratory and the theories and technology associated. Examples of the major areas of focus include separation science and trace analysis, physical characterization of pharmaceutical solids, or Dissolution Testing using Apparatus I or II. A successful Chemist III supports the laboratory by participating in projects and leading by example in all key performance indicating parameters including cycle time, efficiency, productivity, and minimization of error rates. The successful candidate may participate in incoming and outgoing method and product transfers or method validation with guidance from local scientists and leadership.Essential Job Functions:Highly Proficient within at least one of the following core disciplines: HPLC, Dissolution, GC, FTIR, General Raw Material Testing including: Thermal Analyses including DSC and TGA, physical testing techniques including a variety of particle size technologies, surface area analysis, titrations and knowledge of wet chemistry techniques including ROI, Heavy Metals, Water DeterminationProvides key support of QC Analytical Testing of Raw Materials, In-Process, Cleaning Validation, Finished Product Release, and Stability Testing by:- Performing release testing as well as testing required to support Stability commitments while demonstrating high productivity, low cycle time and reduced error rate relative to other chemists.Participating in projects and supporting change designed to improve key laboratory systems and procedures, Contributes by proposing change to support continuous improvement based on data and personal experience. Provides input and support of root cause identification during investigation of OOS or aberrant results. Performs other duties as assigned.Receives little supervision for most assignments. Receives general instructions for non-standard analyses and projects. Is capable of participating in complex data analysis with input from multiple sources. Demonstrates competence in problem-solving.QualificationsEducation: BS/BA in Chemistry, or life sciences and 4 or more years of professional related experience. Work Experience:Relevant experience in a GMP laboratory and R&D lab/production environment.
