Purchasing / Cost Accountant

We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual for a position as a Purchasing / Cost Accountant in our corporate office.  The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Company’s accounting for inventory, purchase transactions, and contracts, which will include compilation and documentation of internal control and monthly reporting procedures.

 

I.  General Function/Specific Responsibilities:

· Manage inventory accounting and reporting activities for Company’s entire product line.

· Manage the timely purchase and receipt of inventory and non-inventory related requisitions including management of purchase orders, contracts and related processes and procedures

· Ensure proper inventory tracking, handling and management procedures are being met by working closely with vendors and 3rd party distribution centers

· Compilation of month-end inventory reconciliation including analyzing, accounting for, and reporting of product line costs, gross margin, write-offs and variances.

· Evaluation and recommendation of potential obsolescence risk and standard cost revisions

· Direct physical inventory counts

· Ensuring the proper accounting for the Company’s service contracts

· Ensure compliance with inventory accounting policies and procedures.

· Evaluate, maintain  and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures relating to inventory, cost accounting, purchasing and contract management

· Responsible for working with the Auditors in their quarterly and annual reviews and audits, as well as ensuring compliance with SAS 70 requirements.

 

II.  Requirements for Position:

 

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and work experience

· Minimum 3-4 yrs relevant work experience in cost accounting within the pharmaceutical industry

· Strong financial analysis skills

· Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

· Flexibility to handle changing priorities and tight deadlines.

· Proficient computer knowledge: Excel, Word, Financial Business Software/Purchasing/Inventory Mgmt.
