Althea Technologies, Inc., a leading San Diego-based pharmaceutical services firm, provides critical manufacturing and development services that support researchers worldwide in their advancement of novel therapies and efforts to apply new genomic information. Althea’s services include cGMP contract manufacturing of recombinant proteins, DNA-based therapeutics and vaccines, aseptic filling, and gene quantification using real-time PCR and gene expression analysis under GLP conditions. Additionally, Althea has introduced new services and technologies for the identification and development of genetic biomarkers with innovative programs such as the company’s proprietary Express Pathway.

The successful candidate for the Project Manager position will have experience within a large scale Commercial BioPharma regulatory manufacturing environment, participating in the planning, decision-making, and developing of projects and implementation strategies.

Responsibilities:
 Work with team members to create and maintain project plans and timelines, which may include budget, definition, scope, staffing, financial resource allocation, dependencies, and target dates.
 Lead the project teams to deliver projects on track and on budget.
 Manage assigned projects: product/process transfers, API productions, Fill/Finish, improvements, or capital. Ensure that all projects are executed properly, attaining desired outcomes in schedule, cost, and quality.
 Organize and manage multiple teams to accomplish agreed project activities & timely implementation of goals and objectives.
 Manage and facilitate project meetings, interactions, and communications.
 Identify and bring to resolution issues impacting project plans.
 Lead the team to identify issues and propose solutions.
 Serve as focal point for project information, manage timeline and action items.
 Develop project budget and track project-related costs. Collaborate with team leaders to present project-related information (proposals, plans, updates, issues, recommendations) to senior management as needed.
 Work with teams to define roles and responsibilities of project teams and team members.
 Work closely with cross-functional groups to resolve any project issues in order to optimize results while minimizing project costs.
 Work with Manufacturing, Regulatory and Quality, Engineering and Technology groups on issues and identifies process improvement opportunities.
 Develop project plans, monitor for accomplishment, close projects, and provide summaries.

Requirements:
 Bachelors’ degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
 Minimum of 3 to 5 years biotechnology or pharmaceutical experience in at least one aspect of biologic or drug development required.
 Minimum of 2 to 4 years of direct Project Management experience required.
 Sound understanding of biotech or drug product development activities and of multi-project planning and coordination.
 Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, matrix management, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
 Must be able to prioritize and multi-task, work effectively with little or no direction, and build collaborative relationships with management, partners and peers from diverse backgrounds.
 Strong computer MS-Office skills, including MS-Project.
 Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
 Highly developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to function effectively and tactfully with multiple departments and personnel, able to gain consensus and commitment.
