In addition, Cambridge is home to the following platform technologies: Global Discovery Chemistry, Functional Genomics, Developmental & Molecular Pathways, and Models of Disease Center.In order to attract and develop an exceptionally talented and committed staff, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research offers an innovative and comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, insurance, savings, retirement, and work/life benefits.The Project Engineer will be the engineering resource for all building related issues in Cambridge and will manage small construction projects.Tasks:· Review work orders to assure engineering compliance and energy efficiency.· Subject matter expert for MEP issues.· On assigned projects, perform programming to capture and quantify space needs for user groups.· Work closely with RE&C colleagues and collaboratively with key Novartis clients, stakeholders and support functions such as Finance, HSE, Information Technology, and Operations.· Prepare conceptual sketches· Assist in the preparation Capital Appropriations Requests (CAR) to obtain funding approval for assigned projects.· Assist in the day-to-day interactions between Novartis and selected architects and engineers from conceptual design through commissioning.· Design and build systems to reduce campus energy consumption· Actively manage 6 to 10 small construction projects.QualificationsDesired Experience:· Bachelors degree from an accredited program in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in building design/construction with a concentration on mechanical systems.· Experience using applicable codes and standards for research laboratories including US building codes, OSHA, ASHRAE, NFPA, Factory Mutual (FM), AALAC, USDA, NIH guidelines or international equivalents.· Controls and controls systems (Experience with Siemens Apogee a plus).· Excellent oral and written communication skills.· Must be able to work independently with minimal direction to achieve project objectives.· Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.· Advanced licensing a plus.
