The plant manufactures various types of API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) with approximately 25 production employees operating on a 24/7 manufacturing schedule. This position will require working around hazardous chemicals and must follow all safety requirements of the site. Project Engineer II In this role you will assist/lead in the design, specification, installation and troubleshooting of various equipment and unit operations supporting Hospira Boulder, Inc. Specific operations may include filtrations, dissolutions, chromatography, crystallizations, drying, etc. in a pilot plant type scale. You will plan and conduct work requiring analysis of data, procedures or design requirements, taking into account financial and business considerations, drawing conclusions and recommending options for projects. You may also supervise and assist in directing the work of one or more consultants, trades, contractors or technicians for the execution of an engineering project. Additionally, you will track report progress, costs and schedule for technicians during project-specific activities.Other responsibilities: Provide input and recommendations to the project team regarding the development of new designs, methods, or processes Assist in evaluation of code-related issues, as applicable; including building, fire, electrical, environmental, etc. Develop a broad range of cost estimates from conceptual or detailed information Prepare or revise broad engineering studies, technical evaluations, protocols, reports, engineering standards, operating procedures, process descriptions, process specifications, safety studies, etc to approve procedures for an area Develop or maintain engineering documentation for an area, e.g. process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, material balances, specifications, data sheets, and arrangement drawings Assist in the development of SOPs and other cGMP documentation required for lab or production operations Aide in equipment commissioning activities, including qualifications [IOPQ] development and execution Provide training to new/current employees with respect to documentation, use of equipment and, department procedures Troubleshoot, optimize or improve safety and/or operating conditions surrounding a building or process system (e.g. discrete utility system) with minimal support from management or a senior engineerTo be successful in this position, you must possess: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 2-5 years experience of plant/unit design with operations practice Familiarity with basic chemical unit operations performed at the site (distillations, filtrations, vacuum/venting operations, etc.) Basic knowledge of chemical processing and support equipment from the perspective of operation and troubleshooting performance problems Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents; reviews and edits written work Flexibility and demeanor with changing priorities Ability to exhibit a sense of urgency to achieve aggressive time tables Capability to create a conductive environment and execute a process to achieve adequate approval of compressed scopes and schedules with multi-function groups Aptitude to suggest/apply novel and innovative solutions to projects Capability to gather ideas from a variety of perspectives and sources and suggest new ways to apply existing knowledge Experience in general chemical engineering and project management skills Ability to effectively communicate (orally and written) in English Ability to plan and organize, write technical reports and utilize personal computer (Microsoft Office - Outlook, Visio, MS Project) for all required activities Capability to take initiative and to operate in a multi-disciplined team environmentWe offer an agile, yet balanced work culture and the types of compensation and benefits you'd expect from an industry leader.
