Program Director - (FY09-24)

Job Duties:
Program Directors oversee projects within technology platforms or franchise indications, and are key leadership positions within Alkermes, Inc. Program Directors work with senior leaders to establish the overall strategy and key milestones for development projects. Program Directors establish and lead development teams in all aspects of product development from early phase through commercialization. Development activities are supported through matrixed resources, and the position requires close and open communication with Project Management and key functional representatives and leaders. This position also serves as the primary liaison to partners for partnered development programs, and interacts routinely with senior and executive management within and outside of Alkermes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversight of development programs, including development and implementation of strategy, and overall delivery to budgets, timelines, and development plans.
• Lead teams to establish and meet key development milestones.
• Ensure that development programs meet scientific and business expectations.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to project team representatives.
• Interact internally and externally with senior and executive level management.
• Represent programs at governance and senior management reviews.
• Ensure efficient communication of issues and program status.
• Support due diligence activities and strategic planning exercises.
• Implement drug development process improvements that are consistent with overall company goals and guidelines
• Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of management in Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations, Business Development and New Product Planning, as well as with alliance partners, as applicable.

Knowledge/Skills:
• Broad knowledge of drug development and commercialization process.
• Demonstrated success in building strong, high-performing teams.
• Successful track record of delivering projects/programs on schedule and within budget. • Prior experience with US regulatory submissions, both pre and post approval global experience a plus.
• Exceptional communication skills (oral, written).
• Demonstrated situational leadership skills (e.g. teambuilding, facilitation, conflict resolution, persuasion, negotiation).
• Complex negotiation skills to influence policymaking and decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively across multiple functional departments, including pharmaceutical development, regulatory, marketing, business development, quality, operations and finance.
• Previous experience working with corporate partners or acting as a liaison.

Education & Experience:
• Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline
• 15 years drug development experience
• 10 years management experience in pharmaceutical industry
• Prior experience in platform technologies and franchise indication.
