Job Focus

The Product Development Chemist is responsible for providing support functions related to the development of new or improved products within the company. This individual works closely with all operations departments as well as sales and marketing personnel to provide technical and analytical results which will be used to determine new or improved product feasibility, product verification, validation and manufacturing processes. Start of product all the way to packaging and delivery systems for product medically.

Essential Functions

 Develop and update test methods for analysis of new and existing products. This includes designing instrumentation for use with the method, writing standard operating procedures and transferring methodology as required.

Generate and document all activities to the level necessary to comply with GMP and ISO requirements for Class II medical devices.

Design and execute feasibility studies for new and improved products, packaging and product analytical testing and manufacturing processes. Create and design input and output statements for verification/validation of design.

Act as a study director for completion of GLP studies for both new and improved products. This includes development of testing protocols, providing support and resources to analysts as necessary and creating final reports summarizing the results of the testing for review by management.

Coodinate and/or assist with the procurement, fabrication, acquisition, qualification and validation necessary to allow the transition of new products through the phases of development to validation and sales when new raw materials or components are required.

Interact with engineering, regulatory and QA to develop and determine the feasibility of new and improved products, packaging, analytical testing and manufacturing processes.

Interact with outside vendors and suppliers to develop and/or procure components for prototypes and pilot batches.
