What Scientific contributes to Cardinal Health
Scientific is responsible for Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Microbiology and other Biotechnology and Life-science related disciplines performing basic and applied research to provide innovative solutions for internal and customer funded projects.
What is expected of you for success in your roleDemonstrates in-depth knowledge of respective scientific discipline and familiarity with related scientific disciplines Typically PhD level or with equivalent experience Independently applies scientific knowledge and skills within respective discipline to a variety of assignments Develops and implements detailed experimental plans for non-standard situations Provides guidance to other Scientists and may supervise direct reports Leads the innovative efforts and advancing the organziation's intellectual property within own projects Present and publish research findings in conferences and peer review journals Directly interfaces with customers on a regular basis Supports business development activites Works to understand customer needs and makes recommendation

Encourages informed Risk-taking and acts as a catalyst for innovation at Cardinal Health; generates practical, sustainable and creative options to solve problems and create business opportunities, while maximizing existing resources. Proactively develops and maintains technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practices; leverages expertise to produce solutions that enable global consistency and standardization and facilitate exceptional performance.
Accountabilities in this roleResponsible for Methods Development and Methods Validation in the area of chemistry and materials as related to new products Responsible for development and execution of Design of Experiments (DOE) for new product Synthesis Trials Supports scale-up transitions from laboratory processes to production technology Responsible for overall Regulatory Compliance in the area of Chemistry and Formulation for new products Responsible for the Stability Study Programs for Product Development projects as well as routine testing Responsible for sampling and testing of new and improved raw materials Responsible for formulated product testing and standardization and maintenance of test solutions Creates and Maintains procedures for Laboratory functions Performs production review investigations relative to formulation Maintains and implements efforts in housekeeping, and safety programs Must have awareness and respect of all company policies and safety rules Responsible for the completion of the appropriate documentation, i.e. batch records, logbooks, and forms.
Qualifications
B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Computer Science or related field. MBA, MS, or PhD highly desired.
Wet chemistry and instrumental methods of analyses (GC, HPLC, FTIR) and familiarity with basic principles of microbiology.Minimum 12 years related experience to include 5 years on large product development projects. Experience working in a government-regulated environment (FDA, FAA, DoD)
Must have strong communication (verbal & written), organization, and follow-up skills
Must be a team player.Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Chemstation software Experience with information technology systems, specifically hardware and connectivity technology required. Healthcare IT experience highly desired.
