Principal Scientist / Investigator

GlaxoSmithKline seeks a highly motivated scientist to join our multidisciplinary team committed to the discovery of new drug candidates.  The successful candidate will represent the Infectious Diseases Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics department on research program teams, oversee departmental contributions to those programs in a team-based approach to drug discovery/development, and provide scientific and strategic input into lead optimization and drug candidate selection. 

Responsibilities include design, resourcing/execution, and interpretation of preclinical studies; providing guidance to program teams in addressing PK/ADME issues; collaboration with fellow team members and management in setting strategy and meeting timelines for program progression; timely written and oral communication of data, program status, and resource requirements; and contribution to a work environment that fosters teamwork, innovation, and professional development.

Requires a PhD (or equivalent degree plus experience) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.  Expertise in pharmacokinetics and/or drug metabolism and understanding of bioanalysis are required, as are excellent organization, communication, and leadership skills.

Supervisory experience, pharmaceutical industry experience, understanding of the drug discovery/development process, and knowledge of infectious disease therapeutics are desirable.
