Principal Scientist - II CEDD

Basic qualifications: Demonstrated record of accomplishment as evidenced by peer-reviewed publication. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as evidenced by a publication record and excellence in oral presentations.Prior pharmaceutical or biotech experience desirable, but not required.Track record of innovationProven verbal and written communication skills are required, as is an ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Ph.D. in immunology, cell/molecular biology, pharmacology, microbiology or related discipline.

Preferred qualifications: At least 2 years postdoctoral experience in the field of pattern recognition receptor biology (NLRs, TLRs).

The newly formed Innate Immunity group within the Immuno-Inflammation CEDD is focused on translating recent advances in pattern recognition receptor (PRR) biology into innovative new medicines for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. We are looking for a creative and driven PhD-level scientist to join our team and utilize their proven expertise in NLR and/or TLR biology to help shape and drive our research into PRRs. They will be responsible for devising and conducting experiments to identify and validate novel PRR targets, and developing the strategy for how these can be translated into successful drug discovery programmes. Create, design, validate, and prosecute biochemical, cell-based, and/or tissue-based functional assays employing a variety of end points to support Pattern Recognition Receptor drug discovery programs.Development of ex vivo and in vivo models to support PRR research programs.Conceive, design and execute target validation studies for validating role of PRRs in autoimmune and inflammatory disease mechanisms.Supervise research of junior scientistsContribute to departmental drug discovery strategyEfficiently and accurately report experimental results in laboratory notebooks.Prepare written and verbal communications for internal and external presentation.Work effectively in matrix team environment
