Neuroscience Research Assistant
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in biology. The scientific laboratory at Vanderbilt University Medical Center focuses on neural development.Â
Â
Responsibilities include: assisting with analysis of alterations in forebrain development in mouse lines carrying mutations in specific genes, using immunocytochemical, in situ hybridization, tissue culture and biochemical techniques. This includes tissue preparation and sectioning, followed by staining and analysis of sections, as well as Western blot analyses. Also responsible for maintaining the databases and the genotyping of experimental animals associated with this project. General laboratory duties are also associated with this position. Experience in some of the following techniques preferred: PCR, molecular cloning, plasmid preparation, tissue culture, small animal handling, basic histology techniques.

Relevant Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree in biology and 2 years of experience (or educational equivalent) is required. Candidates at Entry Level are expected to have a Bachelor’s degree in biology with academic courses and laboratory training relevant for the position.
