Microbiology Technician
Position Responsibilities Working with highly hazardous biological materials in a Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory, supporting and conducting in vivo pathogenicity/toxicity studies, performing standard microbiological procedures and immunological assays such as ELISA, toxin neutralization assays (TNA), plaque and plaque reduction neutralization assays, and decontamination of equipment and materials. Basic Qualifications Candidates must be U.S. citizens, be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents, and be willing to participate in periodic drug screening. Candidates must be willing to submit to a security investigation, meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, and to obtain a DoD security clearance within one year of employment. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge or training in Good Laboratory Practices is essential. Experience using PC and standard software programs (Excel, Word) is required. Associates or Bachelors in microbiology or biotechnology and 1-2 years of experience in microbiological laboratory procedures. Advanced technical knowledge involving in vitro assays and experience working with viruses.
