Microbiology Lab Manager, Food Testing
SCOPE OF JOB:
Our client is a leading provider of testing, quality assurance and R&D services for the consumer products industry. We have an immediate opening for an experienced manager in our microbiology laboratory. You will be managing a staff of approximately 10 technicians/scientists as well as technical management of all projects and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for laboratory compliance to Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Safety and operational policies, procedures and practices.
· Responsible for the successful hiring, evaluating, training, promoting and developing of employees.
· Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work orders for project and account managers.
· Must exercise judgment in time management, work scheduling, project coordination, maintaining instruments, facilities and documentation of work.
· Responsible for the identification and solution of technical and operational problems.
· Demonstrates superior knowledge of a wide variety of tests, analysis or experimental techniques.
· Participates in activities related to professional advancement, including seminars, professional societies and continuing education opportunities.
· Administers and explains policies and procedures to employees.
· Reviewing all data coming out of the laboratories for accuracy and completion.
· Researches new technology to maintain up-to-date methods and procedures.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· BS/BA in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or other Life Science is preferred
· Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role. Prior management experience essential.
· Relevant industry experience including food testing, pharmaceuticals, OTCs, among others.
· Demonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of in-house staff and clients.
· Familiarity with government agencies and regulations as they apply (USDA, FDA, etc.)
Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft applications. Good detail orientation.
