Coach, motivate, develop, recognize and mentor the Process Engineering staff: Lead and develop a group of process engineers to prepare them for the challenges and expectations of their engineering roles. Responsible for assigning resources to support manufacturing operations, training initiatives and process engineering projects. Through coaching, direct others to resolve project issues based on own demonstrated success in solving difficult and complex problems. Manage and forecast capital and expense budgets. Establish and implement a shared mission and vision for the Process Engineering group and provide input on the Engineering Department strategy. Manage, identify, hire, develop and recognize technical staff; Create and maintain employee and organizational development; as well as HR plans which meet business needs. Partner and align the Process Engineering group with Manufacturing, Technical Services, Quality Engineering, EHS, Validation and other departments as necessary to conduct process engineering projects effectively, safely and efficiently. Provide technical direction to staff and related Process Engineering projects. Lead the development and integration of project strategies that may cross several disciplines and evaluate alternatives against agreed criteria. Select strategies and an appropriate level of risk while understanding the full range of implications to the project and to the business objectives. Review and analyze project proposals and determine if benefits derived justify expenditures and are aligned with the business objectives. Review and approve the technical feasibility of complex design concepts and analyze technologies that integrate process analytical technologies (PAT) into manufacturing operations. Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms, commissioning plans etc.) in order to secure project and product release. Direct staff to implement projects in accordance with Baxter's Project Management Methodologies: Review, consult and advise direct reports on project proposals, charters, IPPs, project milestones and design reviews. Contribute and administer standards, policies and good engineering practices. Responsible for preparation of project cost estimates up to multi-million dollar range. Contribute to the selection of tactical proposals among several options based on business drivers and economic analysis. Mitigate EH&S exposure and contribute to the development of EH&S policies and practices. Lead intensive project planning and initiation meetings. QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in the EU and US. Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and process validation. Must be a self-motivated leader, have excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience. Demonstrate the ability to write reports clearly, describing results from complex processes and qualifications. Strong process engineering skills based on sound engineering and scientific principles along with a general understanding of theories/practices in related disciplines. Must have good organization, prioritization and follow-up skills. Ability to overcome obstacles and to deliver results. Experienced in the selection of tactical proposals among several options based on business drivers and economic analysis. Effective in presenting projects/proposals to Division level management for approval.
