Description Allergan Medical, a division of Allergan, Inc., offers the most comprehensive, science based portfolio of Total Facial Rejuvenation products available, including BOTOX Cosmetic; hyaluronic acid and collagen based dermal fillers; and physician dispensed skin care products. Allergan Medical also offers the industrys widest range of breast implant options for reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery, and leading minimally invasive devices for obesity intervention treatment. This position is responsible for product directed research involving the interactions of new and existing implantable materials with cells and tissues and will build the organization by hiring and leading a group of Ph.D level and support scientists and technicians in providing the scientific, technical and laboratory expertise for discovery and research on new devices for future development and commercialization. This group will also provide the expertise in cell and tissue biology as needed for existing products and will interact across the organization with management and development groups in Breast Aesthetics, Health and Facial areas. This individual will also have responsibility in designing a new cell and tissue research laboratory at Allergan Medical. Position Requirements Ph.D. in biological sciences or biochemistry 8 or more years of experience leading a team of research scientists in cell and tissue biology with at least 5 years in industry. Research experience with cell and tissues growth, foreign body reactions, experience with in vivo models and expertise in cell culture. General understanding of GLP and design control process or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of FDAs Quality System Regulation 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485 2003, Council Directive 93/42/EEC (Medical Device Directive), and the Canadian Medical Devices Regulations; 1998. Knowledge of medical device industry and research laboratory design and set up. Skill in developing, utilizing, and interpreting data from standard chemical and biochemical laboratory analyses. Skill in preparing and conducting effective presentations. Skill in assessing technical performance of partners and contractors. Ability to establish effective and successful relationships with scientific leaders in the research community. Ability to demonstrate proven track record of accomplishments as evident by research publications or patents. Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, scientific, leadership, and reasoning skills. Ability to interface, orally and in writing, with many levels of employees of various disciplines within various departments and all other internal and external contacts. Ability to travel to meetings and professional seminars, including overnight and possible international travel. Ability to coordinate interdepartmental, partner, and contractor activities. Ability to evaluate, establish and improve procedures for accomplishing department and corporate objectives. Ability to coordinate and synchronize multiple projects and be flexible in changing daily workload priorities. Ability to function in a controlled environment regulated by FDA GMPs and handle restricted, confidential, private or personal information. Apply for this Job
