Job Title: Medicare Reimbursement Account Manager - West

Department:  Managed Markets & Reimbursement

Reports To:  Senior Director, Government Policy and Reimbursement

Summary: 

Government Account Managers (GAM) will be primarily responsible for developing strategic business relationships with Medicare Contractors, State Medicaid Agencies, policy makers and key opinion leaders. The mission of the GAM’s role will be to ensure patient access to while cultivating relationships with Contractor Medical Directors, Medical Policy staff, CAC members and Drug Utilization Review committees. The GAM will be responsible for delivering all relevant information to payer decision makers and developing relationships with local advocates, state physician societies and patient organizations.

 

The Government Account Manager will work closely with National Accounts Directors, Corporate Account Directors, Corporate Account Managers, AMAG Home Office and Field Sales to ensure teamwork and the understanding of reimbursement and policy issues as it relates to ferumoxytol.  The GAM will be the primary source of reimbursement information to both internal and external stakeholders

 

General Responsibilities:

The GAM will be responsible for building and enhancing strategic partnerships with policy makers, advocates, key opinion leaders and disease oriented organizations at the state and local level.  Each GAM will develop and implement product access strategies related to AMAG’s business, pipeline, and policy agenda.  This will involve developing, implementing, and communicating consistent health policy strategies and partnerships across a multi-state territory. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

· Develop and maintain relationships with Medical Directors,  Medical policy staff, Pharmacy directors, CAC members and Key Opinion LeadersBuild proactive relationships with advocates to ensure access to AMAG productsUnderstanding of the public payor environment, policy development and the legislative process  Well versed in Medicare policies encompassing Parts A, B, C and Part D as well as the Medicaid formulary and drug utilization review process The GAM will possess a strong desire to protect appropriate product reimbursement and patient accessThe GAM will ensure that policy makers and advocates are fully informed and empowered with comprehensive disease state education and awarenessThe GAM will have extensive understanding of the impact of healthcare policy and the impact they have on AMAG, our customers and competitive productsCoordinate and lead alliance-building activities and strategies with internal stakeholders



Communications: Demonstrate strong oral, written and group presentation skills Excellent analytical skills and strong strategic planning abilities are essentialDemonstrate adaptability, innovation, leadership, integrity and a track record of solid collaborative teamwork Demonstrate ability to lead cross functional teams internally and with key customers Coordinate and lead alliance-building activities and strategies with internal stakeholders Maintain frequent contact with Senior Director, Government Policy & Reimbursement, fellow GAM’s, Corporate Account counterparts, Regional Sales Management and Field Sales colleagues Maintain timely and frequent communication to internal and external customers to ensure a complete understanding of public payer reimbursement  In a timely and accurate manner, submit all business plans, expense reports and required administrative reports to the Senior Director, Government Reimbursement & Policy

Requirements/ Education/Skills:BA/BS A minimum of seven (7) years experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare policy. Two to four years management experience Four to six years current public policy experience (Government Affairs experience a plus)Existing relationships with Medicare Carriers and Medicaid Agencies Preferably direct experience with drugs and biologics paid under Medicare Part B (Renal experience is a plus)Excellent written and oral communication skills, specifically, a proven ability to interact with policy makers and advocates on product access issues Candidate must have demonstrated adaptability, innovation and a strong sense of teamwork in prior positions
