Medical Research Assistant (203690)
The Department of Respiratory Diseases Research, a program of the Henry M. Jackson Foundation is seeking a Medical Research Assistant to support influenza research by managing a study enrollment site. The Medical Research Assistant will represent the research study team and will coordinate with clinic personnel to recruit and enroll study participants.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors the medical clinic to identify military beneficiaries who meet the case definition for respiratory disease. Obtains (throat and/or nasal swab) specimens. May perform basic
laboratory procedures. Completes a short data sheet for each specimen. Provides weekly reporting of surveillance data. Responsible for shipping respiratory specimens. Obtains informed consent from study participants. Performs administrative duties to include, but not limited to, copying, labeling, and filing. Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires the equivalent of a High School degree with 6 months - 1 year related clinical/medical experience. An Associate's degree with 0-2 years related clinical/medical experience. Previous experience with human use protocols and/or clinical research is preferred, but not required.
Physical Capabilities: Must be able to read reports, read labels, use computer, hear well enough to communicate with coworkers, stand, walk, sit, write, type, and use phone system
Work Environment: Office/clinical working conditions in a military setting.
