Marketing Communications and PR Manager
Position is focused and engaged in the development and deployment of marketing programs, promotions and events. Management of budgets and coordination with sales teams and market partners to execute on the marketing strategies.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Responsible for implementation, coordination and completion of marketing communications projects.Â
• Manages staff supporting tradeshows and other customer focused events as well as direct-to-patient marketing programs in targeted metropolitan statistical areas.
• Oversees project management of promotional programs identified by sales and marketing management.
• Oversees patient advocacy efforts.
• Manages advertising placements in journals and other venues.Â
• Integrates key messaging and positioning throughout all marketing collateral materials.
• Manages advertising schedules with journal inserts, direct mail and tradeshow promotion and sponsorship opportunities.
• Coordinates and manages external public relations with consulting firm for media outreach, editorial interviews with executives. Coordinates media training and practice for key executives.
• Coordinates website (re)design and manages online presentation of Calypso Medical's website keeping content fresh.
• Assists in collateral development and collateral materials inventory and replenishment management.Â
• Manages literature fulfillment, inventory and replenishment.
• Manages marketing compliance training, material review and quality of internal and outbound materials.
• Coordinates with scientific writer to develop and distribute white papers and trade based editorial publications.
• Manages customer PR assistance program.
• Manages marketing assets including art, video and photography.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
• Assists marketing team to achieve corporate goals, as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures while ensuring quality work.
• Handle changing priorities and other duties as required.
SCOPE OF WORKÂ
• Is capable of working independently and is self-motivated.
• Can make decisions without a significant amount of guidance.
• Is creative and capable to communicating ideas and concepts.
• Manages budgets associated with projects and external vendor relationships.
• Follow all company, regulatory and marketing document review and release procedures.
• Follow all company regulatory, trade secrets and intellectual property guidelines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSÂ
• Familiarity with marketing communications within the medical device or pharmaceutical markets including concepts, practices, and procedures is essential.
• Must be highly organized and able to excel in a dynamic environment.Â
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.Â
• Must have negotiation skills and be able to demonstrate a track record of effectively managing third party suppliers.
• Must have a high degree of interpersonal skills, with a high level of energy and a sense of urgency.Â
• Must be able to communicate strategy and plans to internal and external personnel, as needed.Â
• Must be able to determine appropriate levels of confidentiality for information in their possession and the requirements for communications.Â
• Is a critical thinker and can solve problems working collaboratively throughout the organization.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate through written and verbal means are essential.Â
• Must have the ability to travel up to 20% of the time, as needed.
• Ability to follow and implement policies and procedures required of this position.Â
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSÂ
• Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, PhotoShop, Macromedia Flash and other graphics program(s).
• Excellent communicator (verbal and written).
PREFERENCESÂ
• 4 year marketing communications degree or business / marketing degree with technical background preferred.Â
• 5 years experience with marketing communications with 3 + years management experience.
• Has worked in an early stage company in a small department with limited budget.
• Understands regulatory compliance requirements which apply to medical and/or pharmaceutical marketing.Â
JOB CONDITIONSÂ
• Able to work under pressure around deadlines.
• Must be organized and comfortable with metrics used to manage progress vs. plan.
