Job Description Marketing Communications Manager LocationThis position can be located in Asheville, NC or Milford, MA Reports to Marketing Communications Director, Laboratory Equipment PurposeUnder the direction of the Laboratory Equipment (LED) Marketing Communications Director, manages marketing communications projects and global programs for assigned products to support the execution of marketing plans and programs as defined in the annual marketing plan, including but not limited to collateral, press releases and other public relations activity, promotional materials, media, trade shows, direct mail, and related programs. Functional Responsibilities Project and program management:· Work with product managers, commercial product managers, LED Marketing Communications Manager, and strategic business partners worldwide to develop creative strategies, project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to support successful product launches and commercial product initiatives worldwide. · Take ownership of marketing communications projects and drive to completion in accordance with annual operating plan, brand guidelines, quality standards and overall business unit strategy.· Provide hands-on logistical coordination of product photography, printed marketing materials, and online programs, including response forms and lead fulfillment· Manage and allocate work to external vendors as appropriate: marketing agencies, printers, photographers, exhibit houses, etc.· Coordinate final editing and proof reading; internal approvals; print production and distribution logistics for all customer-facing materials· Monitor and manage spending on marketing communications activities for assigned product lines to meet annual budget. Creative strategy:· Ensure alignment between the product strategies (as defined by product managers / commercial product managers through the Creative Brief) and the resulting creative solutions presented by designers and copywriters.· Work with in-house marketing communications team and outside agencies to drive consistency and leverage messaging & creative themes across a range of high-impact marketing vehicles: ads, direct mail, email & online marketing, banner ads, printed promotional tools, press releases, web pages, etc. · Explore new vehicles in print, online and interactive media that will deliver our message to the market and showcase Thermo Fisher Scientific as the market leader. Ongoing Marketing Communications Programs· Manage product and literature rebranding activities · Interface with Web & Online Marketing Manager and Web Content Manager to ensure strong visibility in online life science venues as well as good content organization and high-quality product content on the web site.· Work as part of LED Marketing Communications group to support division-wide programs (trade shows, advertising, PR) and to strengthen the overall marketing strategies of division. Interface with all other Divisional Marketing Communications personnel. Essential Functions of the Position· Overseas and domestic travel of 20% or more· Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.· Proven track record of managing projects across a range of marketing communications vehicles Experience and Education BS degree in Business, Marketing or Communications/Journalism Experience Profile· Minimum of 8 years experience in global marketing communications for the life science market or similar products and technology· Proven track record of 3 plus years managing employees · A portfolio of examples demonstrating writing and creative capabilities across a variety of marketing media: brochures, direct mail, press releases, articles, web content, etc.· Proven track record of managing multiple marketing communications campaigns, globally, in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and stay within budget· Proven ability to conceive and develop creative ideas and cost-effective solutions for technical products· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to gain consensus and facilitate decision making processes within a matrixed environment· Strong computer skills, especially MS Excel, Word, and PPT; Quark, PhotoShop and Illustrator experience helpful; web & email marketing experience a major plus· Prior budgetary responsibility with proven ability to track and report on spend vs. budget.· Experience managing outside agencies & printers; effective negotiation skills; solid understanding of print production processes Desired· Experience in other major business functions such as sales or functional marketing, to understand marketing communications from an implementation perspective· Business analysis experience or have completed relevant financial courses to facilitate in-depth understanding of financial and operational reports.· Masters degree a plus· Experience in other major business functions such as sales or functional marketing, to understand marketing communications from an implementation perspective· Business analysis experience or have completed relevant financial courses to facilitate in-depth understanding of financial and operational reports.· Masters degree a plus * PLEASE NOTE THAT RELOCATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED FOR THIS ROLE.Education: BachelorsJob Level: Manager
