Position Description:

The Sr. Market Manager for Sequencing Applications will be responsible for managing the marketing activities necessary for the successful development and commercial introduction of a series of products aimed at applications of DNA sequencing technology.Job duties include but are not limited to:• Develop marketing plans that identify the most appropriate market segments and the applications/ products needed to penetrate them. The marketing plans must comprehensively size and evaluate segments, identify whole products, and outline strategic and tactical plans for product launch, customer support, and competitive positioning. • In partnership with the Corporate Marketing group, develop and manage annual Marketing Communications plan and budget targeting various segments of the sequencing market. • Successfully manage direct reports of product management personnel to fulfill marketing plan commitments. • Work closely with external agencies and product management to coordinate and successfully generate all system collateral, including system profiles, application notes, and conference posters aimed at various segments of the sequencing market. • Partner with R&D, Operations, and the Field organization to ensure successful commercialization of the system and associated sequencing products. • Drive successful relationships with key customers to ensure successful early adoption of new products. • Collaboratively work with the Field organization to ensure accomplishment of the milestones in the annual revenue plan.Education and Experience:• Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in similar position, and an additional 3-5 years experience in life sciences or pharmaceutical product management role. • Must have experience defining product requirements and working with R&D to ensure development of products based on customer and business requirements. • Must have experience developing and implementing innovative and successful marketing plans for systems in the life sciences or pharmaceutical markets. • Must have proven track-record of outstanding performance in interacting with customers and various internal organizations. • Experience commercializing new technologies/applications. • Direct experience in the genotyping or sequencing market segments. • Experience working with an international (multi-location) R&D organization. • Ability to translate scientific and technical trends and developments into a comprehensive business plan.• Experience setting pricing and discounting policies. • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in a scientific field; MBA highly desirable.
