Manufacturing Technician I & II

Occupation: Scientific/Technical Production Position Summary Performs functions associated with manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and in process testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. Uses programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment. Responsibilities Works on projects that are moderately complex in nature. Exercises judgment in resolving problems and making some routine recommendations. Cleans, maintains, assembles, operates and may troubleshoot automated production and packaging equipment according to SOP's. Completes manufacturing operations activities such as, but not limited to, spray drying, packaging filling and device assembly operations, etc.. Ensures consistent product quality based on acceptance criteria. Accurately records and processes documentation. May provide some training on routine tasks to other technicians. Collects, maintains and may interpret data on operations performed. Revises and updates SOP's to support manufacturing operations. Supports as needed, process optimization, qualifications and scale-up efforts. Reads and follows BPR's, Exception Reports and SOP's independently. Follows company/department policies. Maintains training requirements, timekeeper and email. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's Degree in the scientific field (preferrably Chemistry) or relevant chemical processing experience. A minimum 2 years manufacturing/laboratory experience is required. Requires good verbal and written communication skills. Experience operating manufacturing or laboratory equipment is required. Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail - Able to perform routine adjustments on standard manufacturing equipment is required. Experience with GMP, SOP's and clean room operations required. Computer skills in Excel (identify discrepant cell formulas) and Word required. Must be able to perform basic math skills (multiplication, division, ratios, percentages). Must be familiar with the Metric system and conversion methods. Multitask, organization and troubleshooting skills required. Employees must be able to lift or handle objects greater than 25 pounds to perform certain duties essential to the job function. Employees may be required to perform tasks essential to the job function in areas that require the use of hearing protection devices. Performance of tasks essential to the job function may require the employee to work directly with, handle, or otherwise come into contact with chemicals or pharmaceutical agents. Employees must be able to wear a respiratory protection (filtering facepiece, 1/2 face, full-face, or powered air purifying respirator, supplied air, or self contained breathing apparatus) for certain tasks essential to the job function. Employees must be able to gain access to elevated work surfaces via vertical ladders or stairs to perform tasks essential to the job function. Employees must be able to able to accurately detect color and have 20/20 vision (with/without corrective lenses).
