PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Responsible for the planning, staffing and execution of all production related activities that occur in a bio-pharmaceutical production facility that is focused on providing API for early phase clinical trials. Manage all aspects of Cell Culture, Purification, and Support Services operations required to produce the necessary quantity of clinical trial material.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIESManages manufacturing team of 18 staff members, ranging in title from manufacturing associate to group lead or supervisor, for 3 different areasManages daily manufacturing activities through dept supervisors/group leadsInteracts directly with process development and research colleagues to ensure effective technology transfer and batch updatesCommunicates project prioritization and production schedule regularly and effectively to dept supervisor/group leadsInterfaces with international colleagues to represent manufacturing at technical workshops and discussionsCollaborates effectively with internal departments such as metrology and facilities to ensure production and lot release timelines are metReceives direction on production activities, priorities, training initiatives, and global policies from Director, Mfg Operations; communicates this information to dept supervisors/group leadsProvides technical support to cell culture, purification and support services teamsEnsures cGMP compliance through dept supervisors/group leadsEDUCATION & LANGUAGESBachelors degree in science or engineering necessary, Masters degree an assetPROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE8-10 years experience in manufacturing in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 5 years supervisory/management experiencePERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIESAbility to work in intense, fast paced, matrixed, multinational work environmentStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong teamwork, communication and decision making skillsStrong delegation skillsStrong personnel engagement skillsAbility to effectively manage changing and multiple prioritiesDemonstrated ability to address operational and personnel issues in a logical and efficient mannerDemonstrated interest and ability in developing manufacturing teamResumes to eric.celidonio@emdserono.com
