Manager of Financial Reporting Process & Controls
POET, the largest ethanol producer in the world according to the Renewable Fuels Association, is an established leader in the biorefining industry through project development, design and construction, research and development, plant management, and marketing. The 20-year old company currently operates 24 production facilities in the United States with four more in construction or under development. The company produces and markets more than 1.4 billion gallons of ethanol annually.
SUMMARY
The Manager of Financial Reporting Process & Controls will be responsible for ensuring a consistent quality of reporting to Management and provide subject matter expertise on the latest financial reporting pronouncements applicable to the POET organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Organizing and managing the monthly consolidated financial reporting close process.
2. Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on the quality and accuracy of financial reporting information generated by subsidiary companies.
3. Proposing and recommending improvements to the monthly and annual financial close process.
4. Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on the operation effectiveness of financial reporting controls.
5. Managing and performing work on special projects as assigned.
6. Maintaining a current and approved set of financial reporting procedures.
7. Managing intercompany allocation processes.
8. Maintaining a current knowledge of external reporting requirements and communicating the potential accounting/operational impacts and associated accounting disclosure issues that would related to POET companies.
9. Acting as a liaison with external auditors, including managing the information request and delivery processes.
10. Champion POET in the community.
11. Maintain a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.
12. Others duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position along with effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
The following skills and experience is required for this position:
· Detailed and current knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
· Professional accounting qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
· Exceptional writing, communication, and detailed analysis skills are required
· Advanced excel spreadsheet skills
· Supervisory experience
· Proven ability to lead, manage, and participate in multi-disciplinary teams
· At least 3 years of financial reporting experience
· Ability to work on multiple projects independently
