Installation/Maintenance/Repair       Total Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Job Description The St. Louis, MO Plant of Covidien (formerly Tyco Healthcare) has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Supervisor. The St. Louis, MO plant produces bulk pharmaceutical products. The plant is located near downtown Saint Louis, MO, about 10 minutes from the Arch. Typical Responsibilities: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the Safety, Quality and Cost Effectiveness of the maintenance activities within the manufacturing and building facilities operations in his/her area. He/she is responsible for directing the activities of skilled craft mechanics on an 8 hour, 5 day schedule, with some weekend work as required. The responsibilities include the direct supervision of Electricians, Pipefitters, Instrument Mechanics, Machinists, Tinners, Painter/Insulator, Storeroom Attendants, and Porters. The Maintenance Supervisor should be a problem solver with the ability to coordinate and direct the work force within the changing demands of the facility.Requirements: Background Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related highly preferred. Will consider Associates Degree in related technical field and appropriate experience.Minimum of three to five years experience in a supervisory role within a maintenance department. Prefer chemical or pharmaceutical background or industrial experience.Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs.Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.Good planning and organizational skills.Ability to hold direct reports accountable.At least three (3) years of experience working with union employees preferred.
