Neutrogena Corporation develops, manufactures and markets premium skin and hair care products sold worldwide and recommended by medical professionals. The product line includes bar and liquid cleansers, shampoo, hand cream, body lotion, facial moisturizers, sun protection and cosmetics, as well as other hair and skin care products used and prescribed by dermatologists. The Maintenance Mechanic Level II is responsible for the performance of manufacturing process equipment in up to two designated areas of the plant. This individual is responsible for the mechanical maintenance activities, as well as minor electrical repairs, on all the manufacturing process equipment in a designated area of the manufacturing plant. This individual will troubleshoot the production equipment in their assigned area of the plant and will perform adjustments and assisting the operators with problems with the different machines to improve quality and efficiency of the lines during change over. This individual will monitor the production lines, addressing any abnormal condition(s) of the machines and reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Production Coordinator / Team Leader or Department Management. The Maintenance Mechanic Level II will work with equipment operators in monitoring all safety items on the machines and keeping these in optimal operating condition. This individual will perform major Preventative Maintenance activities on the production lines according to the work orders generated and will communicate with production personnel regarding status of the lines. The Maintenance Mechanic Level II will maintain records within designated logbook/CMMS, of repairs as well as parts and components consumed by the equipment. This individual will independently perform most assignments with minimal instructions as to the general results expected. This individual is responsible for ordering parts or spares with appropriate follow up as needed. This individual is responsible for following the established LOTO Procedures Practices and GMP Procedures while adhering to company safety, quality policies and procedures. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in a maintenance repair or related field is required. One-year certificate from college or technical school in related trade areas is preferred. Comprehension of mechanical part functions and ability to cross-reference manuals is required. This candidate must have proficiency with mechanical and/or electrical concepts and drawings, pneumatic and hydraulic concepts and drawings, and engineering concepts, drawings and electrical components. PLC ( Programmable Logic Controllers ) Controls and Ladder Logic proficiency is preferred. Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically with Excel is required. CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) package, Ariba, and SAP experience is preferred. Proficient in the use of machine shop equipment (lathes, mills, presses, welding, etc.) is an asset. Forklift Certification is a plus. This candidate will have strong analytical/troubleshooting ability, be able to work cross-functionally, and have strong interpersonal skills. The noise level within the immediate work environment is minimal but hearing protection within all production areas is required. The employee will be frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, stand, kneel, crouch, or crawl, walk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Assistance may be requested when lifting heavy objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This position is based in Los Angeles, CA and requires the candidate to work shift work as needed.
