Maintenance Engineer - Electrical

Basic qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline and 3 years of experience or 6 years experience in operating, maintaining or engineering building equipment and utilities.Proficient in basic computer skills.Proven organizational skills.Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, schedule and prioritize workload for multi-skilled staff preferred.Registered Professional Engineering License
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, at least 7 years power distribution and supporting controls experience, at least 5 years supervisory experience, preferred Professional Engineering Licensure for Pennsylvania, experience with data center infrastructures, conditioned power systems, fire detection/alarming systems, fire suppression systems and security systems required
Details:
Maintenance Engineer supporting approximately 3 million square feet of Pharmaceutical Research & Development space in the Philadelphia Area. Site locations include Upper Merion, Upper Providence and Renaissance. This role will be responsible for technical support for operation, maintenance and repair of high voltage (up to 33kV) power equipment and transmission systems, emergency power generations systems, conditioned power systems (UPS, VFD and Power Factor Correction equipment), IT data center support equipment, fire detection, fire suppression and alarming systems and site security control and surveillance systems. Planning and coordination of preventive and corrective maintenance activities will be expected.
This position will also serve as the Site Operations liaison to the Information Technologies groups on the Philadelphia sites as well as GSK’s Raleigh, North Carolina facilities. This role will be responsible for coordination and ensuring execution of maintenance and capital project activities in conjunction with the IT group’s scheduled shutdown windows. Other responsibilities include: system capacity and obsolescence planning, resolution of data center operational and infrastructure support issues and service level agreement compliance. Driving for consistency in maintenance service provisions between sites is expected.
This role is required to provide technical support for the following tasks to ensure a safe, reliable, compliant and economical environment in which to conduct pharmaceutical research:Operation, repair, modification and maintenance of assigned facility systems to ensure reliability and cost effectiveness.Provide prompt response to critical incidents within assigned areas of responsibility to assure the safety of personnel and GSK’s investment in infrastructure, science and animal colonies.Provide technical direction to the other engineers in the design, evaluation and construction of capital projects impacting assigned systems.Act as primary technical liaison with the electric utility company.Ensure that the assigned systems and personnel meet all regulatory and industry safety standards.Ensure most effective use of budget allocations.Plan for and acquire funding for required system expansions and replacements.Manage supplier contracts required to meet maintenance responsibilities.Support the skilled trade supervisors as needed to ensure reliable system performance.Perform studies of operations, equipment and methods.Advise on preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.Provide recommendations for replacement of equipment and systems due to wear or obsolescence.
