We are currently looking for a Lean Leader in the Manufacturing Organization in Indianapolis.

 

Scope:

The Lean Manufacturing Manager (Lean Leader) will coordinate and drive Lean Six Sigma improvement activities for all functions in the Indianapolis SCM site and interface with the various functions, sites and departments outside of Indianapolis SCM. The scope of activities includes implementation of Beckman Coulter Lean Six Sigma Management System for all functions in the Indianapolis SCM site. The expectation is to change company/site culture to a Lean Management

philosophy, resulting in reduced lead time, space and inventory as well as improved productivity for manufacturing processes and all site activities. These changes will improve quality, financial metrics, and customer satisfaction. The position will be mentored by the Corporate Lean Champions and external consultants.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Lean Leader will provide leadership to process teams; develop goals, plans and schedules that ensure alignment and speed; provide periodic updates of progress against goals; and meet or exceed the Lean performance measures. The Lean Leader will also provide coaching to those involved in the application of and engagement with the tools and concepts of Lean and Six Sigma. He/she will

determine when to engage company experts and resources to solve problems and improve processes. This includes developing, maintaining and providing the relevant training programs, tools, technical expertise and systems to implement and measure a culture based on the pursuit of excellence as well as communication to the general population of the site.

 

The Lean Leader will work with site operations management to determine priorities, resource allocation, measurements and goals. These objectives will be delivered by the use of Lean principles to create value stream maps, minimize waste within them, as well as the use of Six Sigma principles to understand process capability and variation, thus driving continuous improvement to achieve

breakthrough performance levels.

 

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree required in an engineering or supply chain discipline.

• Proven results through Leadership and Change Management applications.

• Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organization.

• Excellent analytical skills

• Strong working knowledge of problem solving / root cause analysis and process/project management.

• Proven ability to work independently and / or effectively with diverse, cross site teams.

• Strong facilitation, oral and written communication skills.

• Minimum 5 - 7 years experience in operational environments such as manufacturing, supply chain, and transactional environments.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required. The Lean Leader will be an influential member of the management team(s) and a motivator of people at the site.

 

The Following Qualifications would be a Plus:

• Lean experience and/or Six Sigma black/green belt.

• Masters Degree, MBA or equivalent

• Experience in discreet, job shop and/or flow manufacturing environment.

• Experience working cross-functional, cross-business and cross-cultural projects.

• Financial acumen.

• PC skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Visio).
