Information Technology Project Engineer

Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a leading drug discovery and development company, focused exclusively on the therapeutic target, RNA. Role

 

Candidate to provide infrastructure and mid-level systems engineering  support to the Executive Director of Information Technology,  and the Director of Infrastructure. The selected candidate will have an opportunity to manage across a continuum of projects within the IT organization including: infrastructure, networking, service desk and application related. General duties will include: analysis and design, requirements gathering, management review, implementation and support of company-wide systems, infrastructure, and network upgrades.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum of three years as a systems engineer, infrastructure network or software engineer role with verifiable employment related successes. Candidate must be capable of supporting projects across a continuum of IT disciplines including: enterprise computing, networks, security, voice and data systems. Desired candidate would be MCSE or CCNA certified or have equivalent work experience.A degree (B.S. or B.A) in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering is preferred.Administrative level experience with Windows NT Operating System, Exchange, Active Directory, Linux and Unix desired.Network infrastructure and administration experience including, technologies and implementation strategies. Experience should include Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, remote connection devices.Familiarity with enterprise backup systems such as Commvault or Veritas and network storage devices such as NetAPP and/or EMC.Demonstrated ability to research and design new technologies and analytical problem solving capabilities. Familiarity with enterprise applications and systems will be considered a plus such as CRM, R & D systems, Document management, Financial, Business Intelligence and/or reporting applications. Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device or life sciences industry including familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and GMP, GLP, GCP guidelines would be helpful.

Responsibilities

 

The selected candidate will assist with the following:Perform analysis, and implementation of new enterprise computing systems, voice and data systems and network upgrades.Perform integration, implementation configuration and maintenance networking devices including switches, firewall and wireless devices.Provide recommendations for upgrade, replacement, virtualization and/or expansion of existing computer systems and storage systems.Troubleshoot and provide support to maintain and resolve network and system issues including server and operating system errors, data recovery, and operational needs.Responsible for developing project plans and tracking status on assigned initiatives including producing technical document, network diagrams and procedures Work closely with the Executive Director of IT to ensure disaster recovery preparedness and develop IT Strategic initiatives.Candidate must have exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and be adept at listening and soliciting feedback; candidate must be organized and punctual. Candidate may be asked to share email messaging and Blackberry support duties. On-call after-hours support will be required on a rotating basis and for project-related implementation activities.
