IT Network Engineer - (FY09-33)

Job Description:
Administration duties in a Cisco voice and data environment. Provide 2nd level support for all network-related issues. Administration of router and firewall access control lists in a multi-vlan filtered environment. Maintain and administer all OSPF and BGP routing. Identify, review, and recommend hardware and software purchases, as needed. Administer intrusion detection device rule sets and policies. Administer Cisco Call Managers and provide 2nd-level IP phone support. Maintain and troubleshoot telecommunications circuits. Perform end-user training when necessary. Develop and maintain network guidelines and policies. Mentor and assist helpdesk technicians. Maintain up/down and performance monitoring for all network hardware. Responsible for additional responsibilities as assigned by IT management. Complete all activities in accordance with approved SOPs and IT guidelines. Knowledge of security best practices.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. CCNA or CCNP level Cisco certification. Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in supporting Cisco networks. Previous experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industries is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills Needed:
Excellent troubleshooting skills and good problem solver. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Technical proficiency in the following areas: access-control lists, OSPF, BGP, intrusion detection, network traffic analysis, Cisco IOS, network monitoring solutions, SNMP. Basic understanding of network security and architecture. Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: Entuity EYE, CiscoWorks, Nessus, SNORT, DNS, Polycom A/V Must be a team player.

Personal Attributes Needed:
Quick learner and organized. Must be highly adaptive, able to follow instructions, work independently and function in a team as needed.
