In addition, Cambridge is home to the following platform technologies: Global Discovery Chemistry, Functional Genomics, Developmental & Molecular Pathways, and Models of Disease Center.In order to attract and develop an exceptionally talented and committed staff, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research offers an innovative and comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, insurance, savings, retirement, and work/life benefits.The Head of Facilities and Engineering manages Novartis Cambridge's Facilities and Engineering organization, providing comprehensive, cost effective engineering services and facilities operations to ensure optimal operations of Novartis owned and leased facilitiesSpecific responsibilities: * Oversee day-to-day facility operations (currently outsourced) for Novartis's Cambridge campus (comprised of several owned and leased lab and office buildings) * Manage engineering team, coordinating with Global Design and Engineering and other site engineering groups on standards and best practices * Write or support development of engineering and facilities operations capital appropriation requests (CARs) * Ensure timely execution of investment and maintenance projects, appropriately allocating internal and external resources and clearly communicating prioritization and accountability * Working with the Global Energy Manager, manage site energy requirements, including adopting innovative hedging approaches where appropriate, while targeting year-on-year improvement in energy metrics * Compare engineering and facilities operations services, resourcing, and processes with standards at other Novartis sites as well as at competitors; share and implement best practices * Define and implement new (or properly maintain existing) policies and SOPs for service provision * Develop and maintain a short list of high quality, approved outsourced service providers * Deepen and manage relationships with key internal stakeholders and customers, including Disease Area Unit Heads and Heads of Operations * Develop and implement performance dashboardsQualificationsRequired experience: * BS or MS degree in engineering or equivalent work experience * Professional Engineering certification * MBA a plus * 5-7 years managing engineering services and/or, facility operations in the pharmaceuticals/biotechnology arenas * Deep understanding of building systems, particularly within a laboratory campus environmentRequired competencies: * Proven ability to set and meet performance targets within a predefined budget and timeline * Ability to work collaboratively with and influence multiple stakeholders and users * Highly skilled communicator * Excellent command of Microsoft Office * Willingness to travel (~10%) * Demonstrated ability to innovate * Results driven * Highly committed and self-disciplined Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research is an equal opportunity employer committed to embracing and leveraging diverse backgrounds.
