Ethicon Endo-Surgery (EES) develops and markets advanced medical devices for minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. The company focuses on procedure-enabling devices for the interventional diagnosis and treatment of conditions in general and bariatric surgery, as well as gastro-intestinal health, gynecology and surgical oncology. The REALIZE Gastric Band is one of the fastest growing segments of Ethicon Endo-Surgery and a key growth platform for the company. The innovative launch program brings to life the concept of a complete continuum of care with the introduction of mySuccess, a web-service that helps patients build the new habits required for successful weight loss and helps practices and patients stay connected three or more years post surgery. EES is making a multi-million dollar commitment to train bariatric surgeons and their allied health partners to perform the REALIZE band procedure and deliver mySuccess. The launch program also includes an extensive direct-to-patient effort that is effectively driving prospective surgery candidates to trained surgeons. The Group Product Director - Bariatrics for Trial, Training and Conversion has three direct reports and is responsible for identifying and prioritizing the surgeons to be trained, managing the proctorships and trial cases, and insuring the Sales and Market Development field teams have the clinical knowledge and broader understanding of the total value proposition to drive conversion. The GPD for Trial, Training and Conversion is a high-profile role in the largest commercial product launch in the company. Although the role initial focuses on surgeon training, the role will evolve in 2009 to include more traditional product and patient marketing. Therefore, we are looking for high-potential candidates who have a broad base of marketing experience. A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required. An MBA is strongly preferred. A minimum of 5 years of business experience is required with 3 years of successful marketing experience also required. Must have marketing experience in either the Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry. Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Sales experience is desirable. Experience with bariatrics would be highly desirable. Must have excellent analytical/financial skills to assess the effectiveness of the programs created, including insight into ROI, P&&L and economic analysis. Must have experience in and be comfortable with discussing clinical/medical subject matter with physicians and surgeons. Must have strong marketing experience as defined by communication process, promotional programs, customer/patient insights, brand strategy, market execution, and franchise management.Candidates should have a proven track record of building strong customer relationships and understanding customer needs. A background in classic consumer or patient marketing is highly preferred. Direct to Consumer marketing would be desirable. Experience with Medical Education programs would be desirable. Experience coaching and managing people is desirable. This position require up to 40% travel domestically. This position requires the ability to work in an operating room environment.
