Global Publications Manager
Delaware, DE Biotech/R&D/Science Job SummaryThe Publications Group (globally) is accountable for developing leading-edge publication strategies and plans for AstraZeneca products. Ensuring delivery of these plans through a range of outsourcing partners will allow AstraZeneca to gain and sustain competitive advantage. This role will provide: · Leadership of the development and delivery of leading-edge publication strategies to support brand differentiation and claims for maximum impact in line with the overall brand communication strategy. · Protect and enhance AstraZeneca’s ability to deliver differentiated sustainable brands built upon superior customer insight by proactively identifying and managing/exploiting the risks/benefits associated with publications arising from other sources, both internal and external.Responsibilities:· Ensure the timely availability of published differentiating and supporting data for the brand, including ensuring that strategically aligned brand messages are delivered · Define and deliver the brand publication strategy · Plan, seek approval for and deliver the Publication components of the Brand Operational Plans · Accountable for delivery of all components of the international publication plan to time, quality, and budget · Work closely with key opinion leaders in building and delivering symposia content · Secure faculty management and opinion leader development in relation to all publication activities · Internal stakeholder education to ensure adoption of strategic publication planning principles and AstraZeneca publication policy · Participate in gathering publications intelligence re: the publication plans of key opinion leaders and competitors, and identifies and coordinates any necessary publications response. · Play a lead role in identifying and managing the potential risk posed by off-strategy publications arising from Research and Development/Marketing Companies. · Brief, select, negotiate with and manage agencies in delivering results to meet objectives in a cost efficient and timely manner. · Develop and actively manage relationships with journals and publishers · Leadership of cross-functional Product Publications Team · Leverage expert knowledge of external environment to sense trends and seek a competitive edge · Develop and improve industry best practice in publication management · Ensure all brand activities conform to AstraZeneca and Sarbanes-Oxley standards. · Undertake regular audits of skill activity to ensure that consistency is reached and best practice achievedResponsibilities· BS degree in biomedical discipline or related field · Experience in publication management in a global pharmaceutical company or a publication agency · Demonstrated project management experience · Experience working on global cross functional teams · Experience and understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and marketing of products/brands across the life cycle · Evidence of an innovative and creative approach to problem solving · Effective influencing and communication skillsPreferred Background:· Advanced degree in biomedical discipline or related fieldSkills and Capabilities:Passion for Customers: Understands one’s customers and uses that insight to provide valueThinks Strategically: Quickly identifies and acts on opportunities, combining forethought with action.
