Job Summary:• To identify opportunities and initiate action that will enhance operating profit through better pricing, profit mix, processes, or resource management.• To keep the Vice President of Finance and SBU Vice President or other business partners continually advised of anticipated business performance with regard to financial/operational activities. Provide ongoing analysis of the historical financial results with particular emphasis on opportunities that can lead to changes that will have a positive impact on business performance.Duties and Responsibilities:• Manage semi-annual budgeting process requirements with business units, including coordination of target setting, presentation of forecasts to Senior management for approval, and timely submission of final targets to Corporate.• Support business unit growth and ongoing capital needs by way of capital investment analysis and coordination of CER submission.• Work with Sr. Financial Analyst on price/volume/mix models that help explain business performance and predict future business performance.•  Collaborate with business unit managers to identify key non-financial performance metrics that are accurate measures of ongoing business efficiency and that aid in predicting future performance.• Work with Sr. Financial Analyst to help build business models driven by customer needs, e.g. dedicated capacity models, program management models, etc.• Provide ongoing analytical support for Six Sigma projects that are initiated by staff in the business units supported by the analyst.• Work with Sr. Financial Analyst to identify areas of opportunity that may help improve business unit profitability.• Regularly analyze and forecast business unit revenue and expenses on an aggregate and cost center basis.• Combine efforts with other financial analysts on cross-functional or cross-business unit profit improvement analysis and implementation of opportunities to improve results.Experience:• Knowledge of the industry plus 5 years of financial and operational analysis experience in service or consumer products business known for financial excellence desirable.• Knowledge of financial evaluation, forecasting, and net present value analysis techniques.• High level of proficiency in the use of PC and applicable software, including relational database manipulation - MS Office Suite proficiency.Education:• Undergraduate Accounting or Finance degree required. â€¢ MBA degree in Finance or related field or professional certification desirable.At Covance, we help make the miracles of medicine a reality.
