FIELD APPLICATIONS SPECIALIST – SOLiD BIOINFORMATICS
OVERVIEW
The Field Applications Specialist (FAS) SOLiD will facilitate the planning and analysis of next-generation high-throughput sequencing experiments and their applications in de novo genome sequencing, medical resequencing, and gene expression studies.
RESPONSIBILITIESWorking closely with customers of the SOLiD sequencing system, the candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating pipelines for template sequence acquisition, matching, assembly, and analysis of the experimental results. Through interactions with members of the instrument software development and bioinformatics teams, the candidate will keep up to date the analysis pipelines with the necessary tools and pieces of software needed to process the data.Additional responsibilities include: Training customers on their premises, interacting on a regular basis with customers and collaborators to obtain or provide data; development of presentations depicting the results of analyzes; integration of diverse third party bioinformatics algorithms; and the application of statistic, visualization and data mining methods
REQUIREMENTSRequires knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years bioinformatics experience. Candidate should have experience with large scale data analysis and some statistical analysis is preferred. Previous experience with customer interface is desirable and excellent communication skills are essential.Travel and valid Driver's License required.
