Feedstock Industrial Engineer
POET, the largest ethanol producer in the world according to the Renewable Fuels Association, is an established leader in the biorefining industry through project development, design and construction, research and development, plant management, and marketing. The 20-year old company currently operates 24 production facilities in the United States with four more in construction or under development. The company produces and markets more than 1.4 billion gallons of ethanol annually.
The Feedstock Industrial Engineer is responsible for assisting the Feedstock Group in the development of a viable biomass harvesting and supply chain. The principal duty will be to define and develop an optimum process/economic model of the biomass supply process from field collection, storage, transport and delivery to the cellulosic ethanol plant.
Essential Functions:
· Assist in the development and selection of the optimum biomass collection, storage, transportation and delivery system (biomass supply chain).
· Develop a process/economic/logistics model of the entire biomass supply chain using IBSAL (Integrated Biomass Supply and Logistics Model) software from the Department of Energy or other software programs.
· Evaluate equipment capacity, thruput, downtime, fuel consumption and harvest efficiency for different biomass supply scenarios.
· Define and conduct testing and data/model analysis to identify improvements in output and cost for the biomass supply chain.
· Develop equipment and process specifications that support the optimum biomass supply chain.
· Prepare and deliver presentations on projects under development to relevant POET personnel.
· Any other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: BS or MS in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience:
· Minimum 5 years experience in an operating plant environment such as manufacturing, grain processing or chemical processing.
· Original development of a process or economic model in an operations environment
Specific Skills:
· Knowledge of typical farming operations. Direct farming experience preferred.
· Microsoft Office package, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
· Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, concisely, and understandably to all levels of the organization.
· Applied and inferential statistics experience helpful.
· Able to work independently.
· Able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
