Feasibility Engineer

Location: : Grand Island 14072 Position Objective Apply Biochemistry/Organic Chemistry/Cell Biology theoretical and practical knowledge to assess feasibility, develop and scale-up Custom Cell Culture Media Chemical Formulations. Develop batch records/work instructions and transfer technology to manufacturing. Identify and solve elementary problems in experimental designs. Essential FunctionsIssue feasibility assessment on Custom Cell Culture Media chemical formulations, conduct process development, scale-up and transfer the technology to cross-functional teams for production. Develop, set up process specifications and quality specifications. Make detailed observations and analyze data. Maintain accurate lab notebook and training file in accordance with Division standard. Advise supervisor of factors that may affect quality, accuracy and usefulness of data. Assist supervisor in the interpretation of experiment results. Advises supervisor of factors that may affect experiment; suggests additional experiments. Suggest options for additional experiments. Troubleshoots experiments. Identify and solve elementary problems in experimental designs.Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve cell culture media making techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment.Read literature directly associated with assigned project. Maintain some familiarity with competitive products.Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures. Report non-compliance and may serve as team lead.May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.Nature and Scope Position exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. The candidate needs to pay attention to detail while multi-tasking. Performs duties independently with only general direction given on routine work. Receives detailed instruction on new assignments or in the design of experiments. Ability to appreciate importance of project toward Company’s objectives. Job encounters recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm, involving a moderate degree of complexity. Measures of Contribution/ImpactSuccessful execution of feasibility assessments, transfer of total firm custom order packages to cross-functional teams for production. Demonstrated ability to communicate project’s linkage to company’s objectives. Technical ExcellenceKnows the theoretical/practical fundamental concepts and procedures of designing cell culture media chemical formulations; continues development of technical expertise through experience and application.EducationRequires a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related discipline, or the equivalent knowledge and experience. ExperienceRequires a minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in a work environment with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s Degree with relevant laboratory class work.
