Facility Maintenance Supervisor Needed - Austin Plasma Screening Laboratory

Biomat USA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Grifols is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for its Plasma screening laboratory in Austin, Texas.

 

Biomat USA, Inc. operates 63 Human Plasma Donor Centers within the USA. Plasma is used to create life saving medicines for bleeding disorders, immune system deficiencies, burns and shock. 

 

The incumbent should possess extensive knowledge in overall facility maintenance and repair, with emphasis in refrigeration and heating, air conditioning, lift equipment, electrical, back up generator equipment, and building repair. This position further oversees the Austin Lab facility repairs.  Knowledge and understanding of maintaining and documenting a facility pest control program is also essential.  Experience in welding skills and other skills relating to the ability to work with specialized tools (i.e., saws, drills, wrenches, etc.) is necessary.  A basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical drawings and blue prints is required. The incumbent will be required to be "on call" during off-hours, weekends and holidays. This position will serve as the primary contact for electronic detections systems and the maintenance of all temperature monitoring records for in-house temperature controlled storage areas.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

At least 5 years of working experience in facility maintenance with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and heating, preferably in the pharmaceutical or similar industry

Knowledge of cGMPs and industry standards in handling warehousing and production floor operations

Must be computer literate

Ability to establish priorities in scheduling and apply problem solving skills

Demonstrate ability to manage people with an understanding of individual limitations and ability to maintain fair evaluations

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent basic math skills

Good welding, plumbing and painting skills required

Ability to work with specialized tools (ie saws, drills, wrenches, etc.)

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum of a high school diploma, Associate degree is preferred

Experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical or other FDA licensed industry is required

Minimum two years experience in maintaining and documentation control of a facility pest control program (pharmaceutical standards).

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Ability to work in -30 C or colder environment

Ability to work frequently in an area that may contain hazardous materials
