SR. EDITORIAL MANAGER/DIRECTOR - NYC
This is an outstanding opportunity for a Sr. Editorial Manager or Director to join a top NYC-based medical communications firm. Excellent compensation offered.
DESCRIPTION:
The Sr. Editorial Manager/Director is responsible for providing leadership to Editorial Mgrs. and writers while implementing publication plans. This entails daily author and client contact, responsibility for accurate scientific content, occasional writing, heavy editing, scheduling timelines, assigning writers, and managing a full-time editorial assistant and free-lance writers and editors. Projects include journal articles, scientific posters, slide presentations for Congresses, and diverse Medical Education projects (including CME). Some travel to Congresses and client-sponsored meetings is required.
* Immersion into all available data in relevant therapeutic area
*Develop understanding of key messages and marketing strategies for new drug
*Implementation of publication plan; i.e., assign writers/editors to develop abstracts, manuscripts, poster presentations
* Provide direction to writers/editors and evaluate their work
* Direct designers re artwork for posters
* Oversee all details such as obtaining reprint permissions
* Knowledge of medical journals re: submissions, processes, etc.
* Work closely with the client – day to day basis.
* Meet deadlines and provide tracking reports on regular basis.
* Diabetes-Cardiovascular experience very desirable
EDUCATION
Prefer:MD, PhD, PharmD, RPH
Will consider MS degreed candidates
EXPERIENCE5 years’ plus editorial experience in Publication Planning, Medical Education or Medical PublishingFacility in implementing a publication planFamiliarity with clinical study reportsSupervisory experience, must have had direct reports
