Job Description Director of Research and Development We are seeking someone to join our team and be responsible for the management and direction of the design, development, execution and implementation of research and development (R & D) projects. Possess excellent capability to develop high-quality new products and meet the company’s timelines within budgetary constraints. Use scientific knowledge and experience to solve a wide range of product problems in practical way. Prepare and provide R&D projects summaries, experimental protocols, technical analysis and decisions.  Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with other departments including Marketing, QA/QC, Finance and Operations. Position Highlights:   -  Manage all R&D projects under minimum supervision. Design, lead and conduct experiments in the areas of expertise for multiple projects. Develop the high quality of new product in line with company’s timeframe and budget. Provide technical assistance. -  Extensive experience in immunodiagnostic products, especially excellent lateral flow-through techniques. In addition, 96-well microplate ELISA experience is plus.-  Identify and provide technical information for patent-able inventions.-  Provide excellent analytical ability and trouble shooting skills applicable to existing and new product situations.-  Demonstrable involvement in outside scientific community.  Attend technical conferences and seminars. Assist with acquisition such as technical evaluation and/opinions. Identify the high quality reagents or/product, advanced technologies and the companies for potential acquisition. Assist Regulatory Affairs for design control, outside clinical trial and 510(k) submission.-  Does R&D administration work such as capital equipment requisition, annual budget, employee annual job performance appraisal, and R&D Monthly Report.-  Supervise R&D Scientists and Research Associates. Response for R&D staff career development.-  Interface with design teams and clinical trials teams. Skills, Education and Experience Qualifications:   -  BS or MS in Microbiology or Biology.  PhD preferred. -  15 years immunodiagnostic product development experience with emphasis in rapid chromatographic immunoassay along with the excellent proven track record of developing at least 2 or more commercialized products. Additionally, 96-well microplate ELISA knowledge and experience required. -  8-10 years management and supervisory experience required. -  Good knowledge and experience in Microbiology or infectious disease is plus.-  Excellent business development experience such as Licensing Agreement.-  Strong sense of urgency and teamwork spirit.-  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.-  Requires 15-20% time for domestic and international travel, if necessary.   Education: BachelorsJob Level: Director
