Director of Managed Care

Non-profit organization with specialty pharmacy has a position opening for Director of Managed Care (Contracting).



The Director of Managed Care is responsible for managing and leading all pharmacy contracting activities including the analysis, evaluation, assessment, development and negotiation of contractual arrangements. The Director of Managed Care develops and implements managed care strategies and develops and maintains networks to ensure the pharmacy is an in-network provider with health plans, employer groups and governmental agencies.   The Director of Managed Care develops and maintains productive relationships with all third-party payers, including Medicaid and Medicare.    The Director serves as a member of the agency's management team and supervises the Managed Care Contract Specialist.

  Bachelor's degree in a related field, with preference for a master’s degree in healthcare or business administration and at least 5 years healthcare related experience. Must have working knowledge of managed care industry and healthcare reimbursement methodologies. Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written – with experience delivering presentations to groups. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. Experienced marketer with ability to develop and implement successful managed care sales and marketing strategies within complexities of relevant healthcare markets. Proficient in negotiation - both in case-by-case and general contract situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to supervise and train employees to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Ability to work without supervision, to use independent judgment, and to make appropriate decisions. Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems at both a strategic and functional level Be willing to travel as required Must possess analytical skills and work well in a team environment.
