Director of IT

Position Title: Director, Information Services IT&S

General Description

The individual in this position is to report to and receive direction from the Vice President of IT&S. The individual will manage the daily operation of his/ her IT&S staff, identifying, allocating and managing resources as needed to operate an effective and reliable computing environment. This individual will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of all systems and software documentation, vendor / license compliance, standard operating procedures and computerized systems validation (where applicable) in support of our client's Shared Services technology. The individual will be responsible for directing the IT&S Help Desk, Document Management Shared Services, WEB/Internet Technology, and Database Management Services across the enterprise.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required

Position requires a minimum BA or BS Degree in Corrputer Science and a minimum of 10 years relevant experience with at least 5 years experience implementing IT Shared Services in the pharmaceutical industry. In-depth knowledge of Client Service / Customer Support, Microsoft .NET / SharePoint technology, Business Intelligence Reporting Platforms (Cognos, Business Objects, Informatica), Documentum, Oracle and MS SQL Server a plus. The individual must have demonstrated the ability to interact productively and amicably in a high-demand international multi-user environment with users;staff, management and consultants. Must be motivated, self starter and capable of independent work.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

I. Assist with the overall technology direction of the Information Services' applications and architectures; coordinate technology efforts and maintain clear goals within the scope of the overall corporate IT strategy as defined and prioritized by senior management. Work closely with the IT&S and business leaders to analyze business processes and goals, and map out the appropriate technology to support both.

2. Design, develop, install, maintain, document and support IT&S solutions for our client: responsible for Internet / Intranet based systems implementation worldwide in accordance with company and departmental policy and the systems development life cycle (SDLC) model. Responsible for GxP and Non-GxP document management technologies, and Oracle and SQL Server Database Management. Lead and direct our client's Help Desk Operations. Will create project plans, establish and monitor timelines and milestones, deploy and manage internal and external resouices, and coordinate all CSV activity where applicable.

3. Utilize expertise to identify areas for innovation and process improvement and investigate and implement technology solutions.

4. Responsible for maintaining complete systems documentation and ensuring license compliance.

5. Responsible for developing SOPs for the use of systems and software, and maintaining a change/version control system.

6. Responsible for the purchasing of hardware and software systems, consulting and integration services. Responsible for technical training of the business unit.

7. Responsible for supervision and management of day-to-day IT&S personnel and or consultants and activities.
