Director of Business Development with a working knowledge of the manufacturing of biologics

Repligen is a profitable Biotechnology company with a diverse set of therapeutic and bioprocessing assets. We are the world’s leading manufacturer of recombinant Protein A which is widely used in the production of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies.



We are seeking a Business Development Director who can apply their scientific and business experience to expand our bioprocessing business through acquisition, in-licensing opportunities and partnerships.   In this position you will lead the identification, development and implementation of new strategic business development relationships and will participate in strategic planning to support the business. 

 

Duties and responsibilities Create and implement a comprehensive Business Development plan to assess and identify top priority initiatives based on short and long-term corporate strategies. Proactively identify and present new acquisition, partnership and licensing opportunities to senior management. Develop proposals and term sheets for prospects.  Perform diligence on and analyze new market opportunities.  Organize and document reports outlining the status of all prospects in the business development pipeline.

 

Qualifications/Requirements Ph.D. or M.S. in life sciences and 5-10+ years of progressive business development experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment, with a working knowledge of the manufacturing of biologics. A proven track record of in-licensing or acquiring technology or products is required. Strong business acumen, organizational and analytical skills are required. Experience with strategic planning, identifying new business partnering and collaboration opportunities, market research, valuation and pricing negotiations, contract development, and technology transfer and licensing is highly desirable. Strong understanding of broad commercial strategies, financials, IP and legal issues involved in business development projects.  Ability to impact, influence and interact with senior business leaders and partners. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an ability to lead business and technical discussions internally and externally. Must be experienced with and capable of explaining scientific concepts. Excellent communication skills both oral and written are required, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
