POSITIONOVERVIEW
The Director,Pharmaceutical & Biotech willhave primary responsibility for continuing to build and lead BSR’s work withcompanies in these sectors. This personwill have significant responsibility and autonomy in developing businessopportunities and delivering consulting projects that provide high value to BSRmembers and other leading companies that are interested in improving theircorporate social responsibility (CSR) or sustainability performance. TheDirector will oversee and participate in project teams focused on thedevelopment and implementation of responsible business practices. This positionis full-time and is based in NewYork, NY, and reports tothe Managing Director for the East Coast.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Consulting and Member Services: The Director will play a leading rolein delivering consulting services to member and non-member companies in thepharmaceutical and biotech sectors. Areas of project focus may include: CSRperformance assessment and strategy development, reporting and transparency,stakeholder engagement, environmental sustainability, responsible supply chainmanagement, issues management, access to medicines and human rights.•Business Development and Recruitment: The Director will havesignificant responsibility for recruiting new member companies and will play aleading role in identifying and developing new business opportunities. •Internal Practice Management: The Director will represent thePharmaceuticals/ Biotech sector at internal management meetings, strategydiscussions and budget planning. TheDirector will assist in supervising and developing the professional capabilitiesof other members of BSR’s consulting and research teams. • ExternalRepresentation: The Director will represent both BSR and thePharmaceutical/Biotech practice to external audiences by: presenting at industryconferences; writing publications; forming beneficial external partnerships; andcreating other opportunities to raise the profile of BSR more broadly.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Master’s degree in business, law, public policy, environmental management orother relevant discipline required.
•Significant consulting experience (at least 7 years) required, to perform thekey functions of a consulting practice leader, including: developing andmaintaining senior-level client relationships; pursuing and creating businessopportunities; and overseeing multiple projects under tightdeadlines.
•Significant experience working with, or in, the pharmaceutical or biotechnologyindustry.
•Deep knowledge and experience in key CSR content areas, such as: stakeholderengagement, supply chain, environment, human rights, or sustainabledevelopment.
•Experience in developing CSR-related methodologies, such as: sustainabilityreporting, social/environmental risk assessment, strategy design &implementation, or social/environmental impact indicatordevelopment.
•Knowledge and experience related to business processes such as strategicplanning, organizational development, training programs, performance management,change management, etc..• Proven leadership and people skills, including ademonstrated ability to mentor the skills and effectiveness of other teammembers.• Outstanding verbal, written, and facilitationskills.
•Willingness to undertake business travel (~ 25-40% time).
•Language skills:Fluent in English, with an additional language from a region in which BSR isbased a strongly preferred.
