Director of Formulation Development

The Director of Formulation Development is responsible for overseeing formulation work, overseeing any out-sourced preclinical work and working with the team on pharmaceutical development on aspects of manufacturing process development, API-sourcing, etc.  The company out-sources most of these activities to vendors, so there is a significant project management component. The Director of Formulation Development reports to the Senior Vice President, Research and Development.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and project management skills with a strong chemistry background and a good knowledge of CMC issues.  Preferred candidates will have a PhD in chemistry or a related discipline and >5 years experience in formulation development, chemistry and manufacturing controls and out-sourcing these functions.  The position is based in the Washington DC area and will require regular travel, including travel abroad.
