Dir, Western Regional State Government Affairs Requisition Number: 22282BR The Director Western Regional State Government Affairs is responsible for representing S-P (based in Sacramento, CA) in the state legislative and regulatory policy-making environment, impacting core promoted product access and other issues affecting the Company as an employer and manufacturer.Activities Include: Establishing and maintaining relationships with key state policy makers within the western region; educating and informing state policy makers on priority issues important to S-P and the Industry [25%]; Maintaining prominent S-P involvement in legislative policy making in western regional committees of PhRMA and other trade associations and business organizations [20%]; Keeping Senior Director, SGA and managed markets and sales teams informed of business opportunities and legislative or regulatory developments that could impact S-P profitability and the attainment of corporate goals[25%]; Driving product access within state programs for specific core promoted products and involving field personnel in advocacy initiatives [15%]; •Communicating to Senior Director, SGA and other S-P government affairs personnel program changes and policy developments that would impact access to S-P products within the western region [15%].QualificationsUndergraduate degree required.Advanced degree or graduate course work preferred. Minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience as a legislative advocate, preferably with the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare delivery system.Legislative or regulatory experience within state government desired.Knowledge of pharmaceutical and managed care delivery system or equivalent knowledge highly desired.Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Presentation skills, including development of PowerPoint and Excel tools required.
